History[edit]

This section is an excerpt from History of Team Spirit

On December 19 2020, the organization signed the roster of Yellow Submarine, with youngsters Yatoro, TORONTOTOKYO, and Collapse, alongside captain so bad and veteran Miposhka. Finally, the team added Dota legend Silent as coach. The team was seeded into the CIS Upper Division of the new DPC season. In early February 2021, so bad was removed from the active roster and replaced by Mira, on loan from Cascade, and Miposhka would take over captaining duties. The team would finish in 4th place in the first season of the CIS Upper Division, thus retaining their spot for season two in the Upper Division, but failing to qualify for the Singapore Major. Mira would also fully join the roster.

In the second season of the CIS Upper Division, Team Spirit finished in second place, behind Virtus.pro, thus qualifying for the Group Stage of the WePlay AniMajor. Here, the team narrowly gets out of the group stage, by beating Team Liquid in a Bo1 tiebreaker match for the last spot in the lower bracket of the playoffs. In the first round, they were able to beat Alliance, but lost to Vici Gaming in the second, thus exiting the tournament in 7-8th place and garnering 200 DPC Points.

With a total of 585 DPC points for the 2021 DPC Season, the team was ineligible for a direct invite to The International 2021. But all is not lost, as there would still be a chance at the Eastern European qualifiers, where Team Spirit marched through the upper bracket, meeting little opposition until the grand finals. Here, they were able to beat rivals Team Empire 3-2 in a nail-biting series and grabbing the CIS qualifier spot at TI 2021. Together with Virtus.pro, they would be the only two CIS participants at TI this year.

In October 2021, Team Spirit won The International 2021 and became the only second ever Eastern European team to become The International champions, since Natus Vincere in :

  • If Io is more than 700 range away while tethered, the tether visual gets thinner to indicate it is near breaking distance.
  • If interrupted, the tether is canceled and Io stops traveling.

Biography[edit]

Kpii’s professional Dota 2 record began with oceanic teams, including Noxious Gaming and AkmA before landing his first notable competitive result with Can’t Say Wips AU in late 2014, where his team placed second in the Defense of the Australians Spring 2014, the largest ongoing Dota 2 tournament in the Oceanic region at the time.

On February 26 of 2015, Kpii found a place in MVP Phoenix, a mostly Korean team. MVP.Phoenix pushed through the South East Asian qualifiers for The International 2015, placing second to their sister team MVP HOT6ix and making it into the wildcard qualifiers. They followed by again placing second in the wild card qualifiers to make it into the main event, in which the team placed an equal 7-8th.

From August of the same year, he spent difficult 5 months on EHOME.K, who placed second in the Chinese region of The Shanghai Major 2016 Open Qualifiers, unable to make it through.

On the 25th of March 2016, Kpii entered the roster of previous international champions Newbee. After a clean streak through The Manila Major 2016 Chinese Qualifiers, Newbee, with Kpii on position three offlane, pushed to third place where they were eliminated. In July 2016, he won the Nanyang Dota 2 Championships Season 2 and came second in DPL Season 1. At The International 2017, kpii finished runners-up to Team Liquid. Newbee later secured a victory at ESL Genting 2018.

After a disappointing first-round knockout at The International 2018, Kpii left Newbee after spending two years with the roster to help reform Mineski along with febby and JT- in September.
