Despite Tirek’s certainty of Scorpan’s loyalty to him, Scorpan displays far more loyalty to their parents, and he disapproved of Tirek disobeying their parents’ wishes and telling them lies.
On page 12, a version of Scorpan appears in ‘ casino.
My Little Pony (mobile game)
Prince Scorpan is a character in Gameloft’s mobile game, and acts as a boss battle helper in the “Tale of Tirek” event. His bio states, «Tirek’s mild-mannered brother would one day escape from his elder sibling’s lengthening shadow…and save Equestria in the bargain.»
Scorpan’s G1 counterpart appears in Vol. 3, in which Twilight takes part in an altered version of the events of Rescue at Midnight Castle.

The CMCs meet Gabby.
In The Fault in Our Cutie Marks, Gabby meets the Cutie Mark Crusaders, holding a deep desire to get her own cutie mark.
Working as a mail delivery griffon in Griffonstone, Gabby has always felt different from other griffons in that she tries to spread cheer through her deliveries—with little success. When Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash arrived in Griffonstone during the events of The Lost Treasure of Griffonstone, Gabby observed them helping Gilda with a friendship problem. Reasoning that Pinkie and Rainbow’s desire to help others is tied directly to their cutie marks, Gabby becomes obsessed with getting a cutie mark of her own.
While delivering a letter from Gilda to Rainbow Dash, Gabby speaks with several ponies in Ponyville about their cutie marks, and they refer her to the Cutie Mark Crusaders. At first, Gabby believes they can magically give her a cutie mark. But after consulting with Twilight Sparkle, they tell her that the chances of a griffon getting a cutie mark are very slim. Nevertheless, Gabby remains hopeful and resolves to be the first griffon to get a cutie mark.
During the song Find the Purpose in Your Life, Gabby, at the Crusaders’ urging, tries numerous activities around Ponyville, helping several ponies in the process. As she demonstrates tremendous talent at each activity, the Crusaders realize it would be impossible to choose a single thing as her special talent. They tell her the harsh reality of her situation, and she flies off in tears.

When Gabby returns to the Crusaders’ clubhouse, she reveals that she got a cutie mark of a cauldron, perceived as a talent for mixing potions. However, her cutie mark is revealed to be fake when she falls in a mud puddle. Gabby explains that she lied about getting her cutie mark to make the Crusaders feel better after they failed to help her. Realizing that Gabby demonstrated the same helpfulness during her song, they realize that her special talent and purpose in life is helping others, just like them.
With this in mind, the Crusaders carve cutie marks for Gabby out of wood and welcome her as the first griffon member of the Cutie Mark Crusaders. As Ponyville throws her a cute-ceañera, she vows to bring Cutie Mark Crusader values to the rest of Griffonstone.
Season seven
In Forever Filly, a picture of Gabby appears on a wall in the Crusaders’ clubhouse alongside pictures of other ponies whose cutie mark problems they helped with.
Season eight
Gabby makes a brief appearance in Gallus’ story in The Hearth’s Warming Club, taking part in the griffons’ Blue Moon Festival.
Season nine
In The Last Crusade, Gabby appears among the characters the Cutie Mark Crusaders helped at their Appreciation Day parade. A design of her feathers appears on Auntie Lofty’s quilt. She also makes a cameo appearance in Between Dark and Dawn flying beside Gilda during Lotta Little Things.

In Dragon Dropped, Gabby is revealed to have become pen-pals with Spike after her first visit to Ponyville. And since Grampa Gruff demands regular updates from Gallus, she now visits Ponyville regularly, allowing her and Spike to hang out often. When a jealous Rarity’s attempts to get more time with Spike make it look like Spike doesn’t want to hang out with her anymore, Gabby almost breaks off their friendship. Fortunately, the repentant Rarity patches things up between them.
In The Ending of the End — Part 2, Gabby takes part in the final battle against Queen Chrysalis, Lord Tirek, and Cozy Glow. In The Last Problem, Gabby attends Twilight Sparkle’s coronation ceremony. She also briefly appears in Fluttershy’s group shot during The Magic of Friendship Grows.
Origin
The term «brony» is a portmanteau of «bro» and «pony». It originated on 4chan’s comics and cartoons discussion board /co/ in October 2010 shortly after the board’s community began discussing the show. It has since made its first official appearance on a commercial for the show, dubbed Equestria Girls, where Pinkie Pie uses it to refer to male ponies.
Most media outlets have described the term as referring to the adult male fans, with the moniker «pegasisters» for adult female fans. Despite being formed from the masculine word «bro,» the term is sometimes used to describe both male and female fans outside of the target demographic, making it unisex.

Stygian is first alluded to in the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Issues #51-53 story arc From the Shadows by his descendant Shadow Lock, who seeks to erase all evidence of his ancestor’s existence in order to prevent his return. Stygian is also depicted as the Pony of Shadows in Star Swirl’s journal on page 20. He also appears on the A cover of .
Stygian also appears on cover B with the Pillars of Old Equestria. In the story’s flashback, his village comes under the Dazzlings’ hypnotic control, and he leaves to gather together a group of legendary heroes strong enough to fight them. In , Stygian successfully recruits Rockhoof after helping him protect his village from ferocious lumber bears. In , they recruit Mage Meadowbrook after helping her cure rabid swamp animals. In , the group is joined by Flash Magnus and Somnambula, and in by Mistmane and Star Swirl the Bearded. In , the group defeats and banishes the Sirens, and Stygian also appears in the present day talking with Sunburst.
Stygian disguised as «the Dark Horse».
In the Legends of Magic Annual 2018 comic, Stygian and the Pillars of Equestria travel to another world to rescue Princess Celestia and Princess Luna. In this other world, they battle against an alternate Pony of Shadows, who is eventually revealed (to the reader) to be that world’s version of Stygian.
Stygian appears as a central character in the My Little Pony: Nightmare Knights series, helping a depowered Princess Luna to assemble a team of former villains. His alternate self also makes a return appearance in a nightmare, with using its form as a disguise. It is later revealed that the alternate Stygian enslaved Eris, but was later defeated by her and an alternate Daybreaker.
In , Stygian appears on page 3.
Stygian is seen at the end of , researching the temples containing the other Trees of Harmony alongside Twilight, Starlight, Sunburst and Star Swirl. On page 3, he and Sunburst try to find information on the Knights of Harmony with the aid of Somnambula. In , Stygian fights against the Knights alongside Princess Cadance and Maud Pie.
Chapter books
In chapter 11 of Discord and the Ponyville Players Dramarama, Torch Song of the Pony Tones mentions the Pony of Shadows.
My Little Pony (mobile game)
Stygian, the Pony of Shadows, and The Dark Horse are characters in Gameloft’s mobile game. The Pony of Shadows is the boss of the «Shadow Play» event and a boss during the «Nightmare Night at the Museum» event, while The Dark Horse is a boss battle helper in the «Nightmare Knights» event. Stygian’s bio states, «No one expected that Stygian—the bookish young stallion who founded the Pillars of Equestria—could be a vessel for the Power of Shadows…but expectations are often misleading.» The Pony of Shadows’ bio states, «Once believed to be merely a story to frighten young foals, the Pony of Shadows is all too real…and a major threat to Equestria.» The Dark Horse’s bio states, «He is the hoofbeat from under the floorboards! He is the shadow in the empty stable! He is…DEFINITELY not just Stygian in disguise!»

Generation 3.5 (2010)

The show’s developer, Lauren Faust, wanted the ponies to act in ways characteristic of horses and avoid human conventions that wouldn’t fit with their stylization, like human poses, holding items in their hooves, sitting in chairs, and driving vehicles such as cars and trains.atural horse». Faust wanted the characters to «evoke the feeling of a natural horse». Faust specifies a few attributes in one of her interviews: the back of the ponies’ heads streamlines down their neck and to their back; the manes fall to one side of the neck like a real horse; and they have authentic horse trots and gallops. Despite this, season two and onwards saw the show incorporate more human-like stylization as new artists joined the show.

Most of the time, ponies hold objects with their mouths, with their «wrist», between their hooves, by using magic or wings, or simply just with a single hoof: ponies hold shovels in their hooves in Winter Wrap Up, and Octavia Melody and Fiddly Twang «hold» their instruments’ bow with one hoof. In Pinkie Pride, Pinkie Pie uses a sticky tape-like substance to hold a bubble blower onto her hoof. In The Saddle Row Review, Plaid Stripes invents «spoon clothes» to help Earth ponies hold spoons. In Viva Las Pegasus, uses a hoof-strap tool to apply lipstick.

In the — story arc Ponyville Days, Aloe (sometimes with purple eyes and one of those times addressed by name) and Lotus Blossom side with the Apple family when Ponyville becomes split over who the true town founder is. In , Lotus Blossom appears on page 5. In , Aloe and Lotus Blossom appear on pages 5 and 18. In , they appear on page 16.
On page 3, Lotus Blossom and Aloe appear as attendees of Apple Con 45. On pages 14–15, they give spa treatments to Fluttershy and Iron Will.

Hasbro’s My Little Pony Friendship Express Train Puzzle Adventure shows Lotus Blossom with Twilight Sparkle in a screenshot from Ponyville Confidential. The game was released earlier than the episode was.

Various humans have appeared along with ponies in merchandise and in other media such as commercials, some humans being cartoon characters and others being played by live-action actors.
